Quotes about Tao and Harmonious Relationships

Laozi: “There is no greater sin than desire; no greater curse than dissatisfaction; no greater misfortune than wanting something for oneself”

Laozi: “The wise man seeks freedom from desire:  he does not collect precious things; he learns not to hold on to ideas”

Laozi: “After a bitter quarrel, some resentment must remain—what can one do about it? The wise person will keep his half of the bargain, but not request his due.  A virtuous person does her part, but people without virtue will require others to fulfill their obligations.  The Way of Heaven is impartial—it stays with good people forever.”

Chuangzi: “A man who has no desire does not disturb his inner well-being with likes and dislikes—he accepts things as they are and does not try to improve upon them.”

Dr. William Glasser, a noted therapist mentions seven habits to avoid if one wants a successful relationship.

We do not:
1) Criticize
            2) Complain
            3) Blame
            4) Nag
            5) Threaten
            6) Punish
            7) Bribe

Chuangzi:  “When the mind is clear, then appropriate action follows.  Let everyone do what one can, that is all.  Birds fly high in the sky so as to avoid being hit by stringed arrows; mice make their homes deep under the sacred mound so as to avoid
being smoked out or dug up.  Surely people have more sense than these two creatures!”

Laozi: “The softest thing in the universe overcomes the hardest thing in the universe.  That without substance can enter where there is no room, hence I know the value of non-action.
substance can enter where there is no room, hence I know the value of non-action.
