Reflections on the Taiwan 2007 Tour
By
Sr. Susan K. Brislin, Los Angeles
I am extremely grateful to share some
thoughts and stories of our recent trip to Taiwan during September 2007. I come
to the Mei-Hsing Temple in Temple City [1], and am so thankful for the members,
and my friend, Mrs. Anh Chau, who introduced me to the Tao. My life and health
have changed dramatically since I have received Tao, and I have been so blessed
to share in dinners, youth activities, classes, prayer, and recently, a miracle
trip to Taiwan to visit many temples.
I am an Irish-American, born in San
Diego California, and have been a licensed occupational therapist for nine
years. I work with the elderly, mentally ill, and homeless in my job, and teach
in the universities. Before, I worked as a special education teacher. I am still studying for my PhD in school, which
takes forever! I am grateful for the Three Treasures to help me improve my
focus! In my religious life, I am in training to become a secular Catholic nun,
or “sister”, with the Daughters of Mary and Joseph order from Belgium. We take a vow of poverty,
sexual chastity, and obedience to prayer five times a day, and daily mass. We
must work for the poor and the sick, and do a lot of volunteering. MORE
